Road Trip!

You may remember that Calpernia and Bingo Boy went on a road trip last week. Allllllllllll the way to beautiful Monterey Bay California to perform a Travlin’ Bingo Show for the students at Cal State University Monterey Bay.

I actually remembered to take pictures to document this momentous occasion and I thought that I would share them with you. Nothing too exciting but fun.

After hitting the road in my brand new car, we drove for about an hour before we were already hungry, had to pee and get gas. We stopped in beautiful Gorman, California at a “Gas N Go” and look what we found! A women’s shoe store! In a gas station! Such clever marketing. “Honey, you go fill up the tank, I just have to try on these beautiful black pumps! I think they’re Kate Spade!” Alas, we resisted and did not buy anything.

Our next stop, which was about another hour later, and was to eat lunch- was at the Wild Horse Inn in beautiful King City! This beautiful diner not only served great food (had a beef dip sandwich with fries) but also had a pretty large “pop up” holiday gift table! Alas, we resisted and did not buy anything, not even the cool “mason jar on a wine stem” glasses that I believe was either glorifying or making fun of white trash.

Just a quick note about my room at The Holiday Inn Express- it was very VIP since I was on a corner and had TWO windows.

Around 6 pm I texted Calpernia to see if she wanted dinner and she said yes but that she was in line at Walmart. Only Calpernia would walk to a Walmart in a strange city just to see what they have.

On our way to our gig we stopped and took a selfie with front desk clerk Alex. I believe that we intrigued him just a bit.

And look at that! We sold out the place! They moved us to a bigger room than last time and we STILL sold out the place! Over 250 students attended at 9 pm on a Thursday night! We still got it, I tell ya. We still got it.

One perk of the event was being able to drink all of the tiny cups of hot chocolate that you wanted. With tiny marshmallows! Thank you Starbucks!

Another perk was having our very own tech guy who put the numbers that we called up on a big video screen! Just like at “REAL BINGO”! His name is Zorian and he did a great job.

Of course everyone wanted a photo with Calpernia. It looks like she is being tackled but they were very gentle with her.

The next morning we met up in the little serve yourself cafe at Holiday Inn Express and I reacquainted myself with my old friend…..

The automatic pancake maker! I remember this guy from last time we were there and have been dreaming about him ever since. Just press the button and a big fluffy pancake shoots out the side in a “minute flat!”

Alas I was sorely disappointed by my pancake.

What the hell is that? It looks like a car or a bug or a small uncircumcised penis with very tight balls. Don’t worry. Later a nice woman fixed the machine and I did have my fluffy pancake. I was so busy eating it I forgot to take a photo so just use your imagination.

On the way home, we stopped in beautiful Beullton so that I could visit the Andersen’s Pea Soup Restaurant! As a kid we used to stop there for every vacation (even the one to France and that was a bit odd but…). Place is still the same and the pea soup was delicious! And guess what? I bought things at their gift store! Oh Andersen’s Split Pea, you know I can never resist you!

Well it was fun and we look forward to our next road trip. Hope you had fun too.
