This was a good week for fun celebrity-type guests at Legendary Bingo. You can scorn me if you will but I have always found it really cool to meet and work with those who I have seen on the big and/or small screen. It kind of freaks me out a bit. I remember sitting in Barbara Eden’s living room years and years (and years) ago, interviewing her for a story for a small magazine and she came in with fresh squeezed lemonade. All I could think was “Jeannie just made me lemonade!” If you are not old enough to get that reference, just never mind.
Anyway, on Sunday night, Karla Souza and Alfred Enoch from “How To Get Away With Murder” came and called our balls and they were really good at it. Best moment was when Roxy paddled a person with false bingo and completely freaked Karla out. Here eyes got very big and she held her hand over her mouth and when it was over, Karla said to the false bingo-er “are you okay?” To which Roxy says to Karla “Oh come on, you people murder someone every week! I am sure you can handle this!” Maybe you had to be there but it was very funny.
On Tuesday night, Roxy and I were at Edwin Mills in Pasadena and a fight broke out between Roxy and Anthony Guthmiller (a good friend who also works with charities) over who would get the “bucket” that one of the prizes came in. Both, you see, wanted to use it as a hat.
Here is Anthony using it as a hat-
…but Roxy won and the “hat” went home with her. I think it’s her new “going to church” hat but who knows.
On Wednesday night, there was a prison break and Jolene Purdy of “Orange Is The New Black” popped in just long enough to call a few bingo numbers before the warden whisked her back to the “shoe” That’s prison lingo and actually is SHU or Special Housing Unit- meaning solitary confinement. See? You learned something!
For the same show, our friends Joey King (White House Down, Fargo) and Hunter King (The Young & The Restless) came to play bingo and we all posed for a special “young, hot Hollywood celebrities” shot-
Wait- who is the old guy in the black t-shirt? He’s not a “young, hot…..” oh well, it’s good to be Bingo Boy. We all had a good laugh about that one-
See? I told you.
On Thursday evening Deven and I did our final (for this year) appearance at Americana at Brand and, as usual, it was PACKED! Don’t believe me? Take a look see-
To give you perspective, follow the black arrow to the point. If you look closely, you can see Deven on stage. We were like tiny ants to those in the back! Over 600 people! Truthfully, the odds of winning a game were very slim. Still a lot of fun.
Except for the poor woman who was picking up the confetti that Deven and I repeatedly shot out at each and every winner (we weren’t allowed to pelt).
She hated us.
She. Hated Us.
On a brighter note, we made a new friend named Kadir who was with his mother and friends and helped us out through the evening by dancing and as a “guest confetti thrower.”
No, I am not punching him and yes, Deven looks like she is about to sing “Let It Go” in the style of Abba.
Finally, did you know Bingo Boy is a superhero?
Well, now you do. His superpower has something to do with his balls. That’s all I can reveal.
