It’s true. I know you think that our lives are so fancy- every night at a different country club, hanging out with Sia or Justin Timberlake but sometimes…we go to The Elks Lodge.
And we love it.
On Saturday night Roxy and I were asked to work our bingo magic for the Arcadia High School Athletic Boosters (and yes, I did make jokes about the athletic booster in my pants- don’t worry- no kids were there). This year they had to scramble for a location and we all ended up at The Elks Lodge!
BPOE man! BPOE! I was always told that BPOE meant “Best People On Earth” but it turns out it also means “Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks”! Huh! And they are pretty serious. I looked it up online and it is quite an arduous process to become a Protected Elk!
And don’t even think of parking here!
I am thinking Donald Trump has the same sign on his parking place at work.
Anyway, another highlight of the location is that it is right next to a very popular Asian restaurant!
Okay- so we are doing bingo for a high school athletic team right next to a restaurant called “Young Dong.” How long can you ignore that for the sake of propriety? Not long- just ask Roxy.
And yes, she is screaming “Yes! Young Dongs!”
There you go.
In a slightly classier environment, on Sunday night at Hamburger Mary’s we were visited by Hollywood royalty!
OMG- Lily Tomlin is in the house! I love her and I always meet her in the parking lot and we hold hands walking in to the restaurant. Our friend Bob Bergen (the voice of Porky Pig, Marvin The Martian, etc) also helped call numbers with the glorious Calpernia Addams giving class to the show.
I honestly don’t know what we are doing here. Possible captions-
“Did anyone lose a blue ball? Anyone? A blue ball!”
“Everyone down on the floor! If I take my fingers off of this blue ball- the whole place goes!”
If you would just shut the f*ck up you would hear the numbers! I said ‘B-12’ you idiots, ‘B-12′”!
Anyway, at one point Lily called numbers as “Edith Ann,” a character she used to do on “Laugh In” (Google it, youngsters).
So much fun.
And of course Lily was given her very own copy of “Drag Queen Bingo: The Home Game.”
She promised that she would kick Jane Fonda’s ass at the game and be crowned “Miss Bingo Queen of The Universe.”
Another fun night at Legendary Bingo!
