We Like To Party!
And this week we did just that.
On Tuesday afternoon we held a special bingo party at Hamburger Mary’s to celebrate the retirement of the amazing Reverend Ed Bacon of The All Saints Church in Pasadena.
And what an amazing man! Here’s what Wikipedia says about Pastor Bacon-
A progressive spokesperson on issues of faith and justice for all regardless of race, gender, faith, or sexual orientation, Bacon has been featured in national media including being a guest panelist in the Spirituality 101 segment of The Oprah Winfrey Show’s “Living Your Best Life” series. In January 2009 his statement to a call-in viewer that “being gay is a gift from God” received national attention. As a result, Bacon was invited to return to the show and soon became a regular on Oprah’s Soul Series on Oprah & Friends Radio, recording two shows a month for eighteen months.
See what I mean? Deven Green and I hosted along with special guest Alec Mapa who decided to come dressed as Oprah or….as he called himself, “Fauxprah.
Um…I don’t know what to say. Does he look like Oprah?
Probably not. But is was a nice try and we had a ton of fun.
On Wednesday night, Willam Belli portrayed a bingo hostess to the best of his ability (actually he is amazing and has been with me for almost ten years!)
The other gorgeous women in the photo won the award for “best dressed table” (no prize was given) and we were especially glad to see our “Taylor Swift” impersonator Lorene who is standing right next to Willam. Seriously, right?
Also in the audience this group, which included the guy in blue who won the award for “most times saying ‘it’s on’ right before someone else called bingo.” Again, no prize was given.
On Sunday night we split up. What? Well, Deven and Roxy did bingo at Mary’s while Porsha and I attended a party in Beverly Hills (and also did a little bingo).
At Mary’s- here is what Deven and Roxy were up to-
Of course- selfies in the dressing room mirror. I would not have expected any less of them.
Meanwhile in Beverly Hills I entered the party, which was an event for Actors For Autism, and was immediately greeted by a friend who introduced me to her friend “Roz.” While talking with them I kept thinking I knew Roz’s voice from somewhere. And then it dawned on me. It was Roslyn Kind, half-sister of Barbra Streisand! They look and sound so much alike!
As the party went on I saw old friend Charlene Tilton (“Lucy Ewing” of “Dallas”) and found out that she was the host of ‘Saturday Night Live” years ago when a young man named Prince made his first appearance! She hung out with him for a week and she said it was magical.
I then ran in to Erin Murphy who was “Tabitha” on “Bewitched” and she introduced me to her friend Lauren Potter who played “Becky Jackson” on “Glee” and is a huge advocate for children with disabilities.
Later on I saw Corey Feldman and sort of shook hands with Mary Wilson of “The Supremes”! She was eating a cupcake so we sort of wrist bumped but it was still awesome.
Well, it was a good week and I am sure next week will be just as good. I think “Drag Queen Bingo: The Home Game” has finally hit the docks in Long Beach so I will hopefully have my hands on them by the time of our next email!
This week on Wednesday night we have some special guests! Willam Belli is hosting with me and special guest for the first show will be Brian Dietzen of “NCIS” and 9 pm show will feature some outrageous British drag queens from a film premiering at RuPaul’s DragCon called “Dressed As A Girl” (see below for more info on that).
AND FINALLY- under the category of “TABLOIDS ARE DISGUSTING”-
I rest my case.
And see you this week at BINGO!

SPECIAL GUESTS!
For the 9 pm show on Wednesday, we will have a visit from members of the cast and the director of Dressed As A Girl, a “frockumentary” produced by World Of Wonder!
UK director Colin Rothbart in his feature film debut rips off the wigs and wipes away the mascara to find the real people behind the figureheads of East London’s much-hyped alternative drag scene. Following in the tradition of Paris Is Burning and The Cockettes, DRESSED AS A GIRL paints a compelling London portrait that pulls audiences beyond the performances into a mesmerising and previously inaccessible underworld.
Filmed over six years and following six cult stars as they swim against the tide (Jonny Woo, Holestar, Scottee, Amber Waze, Pia Arber and John Sizzle). The film follows the literal highs and graphic lows of this popular tribe, revealing the personal struggles of each heroine. Dressed as a Girl demonstrates how the power of friendship can ensure survival against all odds, and how individualism is a group activity. These radical, iconic, players come together to form a sturdy house of cards, and no matter how high the tide is – there’s always a laugh to be had.
